  • Holi is on March 2 with Holika Dahan on March 1
  • Holi in 2019 is on March 21 with Holika Dahan on March 20
  • Holi in 2020 is on March 10 with Holika Dahan on March 9

Holi is one of the major festivals of india and is celebrated with enthusiam and gaiety on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun which is the month of March as per the Gregorian Calendar..

Holi is a Hindu spring Festival celebrated in the Indian subcontinent also known as the "Festival of Colours" also known as the "Festival of love"..


Every festival either it is religious or national it contains a legend behind it. Holi also had its legend. It is believed that a King named Hiranyakashyap had a son named Prahlad resepctively. Prahlad was the prime devotee of lord Vishnu and Hiranyakashyap was the rebel and had supernatural powers that he could be neither killed by human or not by animal neither indoor not outdoor neither by any of the weapon..

On the other hand Prahlad worships Lord Vishnu all the time..Hiranyakashyap tried his level best to kill Prahlad..But his all teachnique failed to kill the Prahlad because That boy is the strong worshiper of Lord Vishnu...

Now Hiranyakashyap summoned his sister Holika who had a cloak which enables her to get recover from fire while Prahlad was not..

Hiranyakashyap tricked Prahlad with his sister Holika & make him ready for sitting into pyre with his aunt (Holika) as the fire goes on Holika's Cloak get flew from her and she got burned but Prahlad escaped from the fire...

After that he decided to kill Prahlad by Himself & at that time Lord Vishnu appears to set up Dharma once again in the form of his Narsimha avatar from a Pole.It is believed that Narsimha avatar had half human and half lion looking like a destroyer..

Narasimha look Hiranyakashyapu at doorstep and placed him on his lap and then slaughtered him with claws.This is the famous Legend behind the festival of Holi
